He’s been fantastic under Jan Siewert, hasn’t he? Ever since making his way into the side on a regular basis, Juninho Bacuna has worked tirelessly and looked bright on the ball for Huddersfield Town. With a mass exodus surely to come in the summer, Siewert should ensure his midfield is built around this man.
Bacuna was brought in from FC Groningen in the summer, having regularly been involved in their first-team for the previous four campaigns.
The 21-year-old had to bide his time for opportunities under David Wagner as he made just seven appearances across all competitions during his time at the helm this season. Since Siewert has taken over the reins, though, he has since featured in every game, whether that be as part of a deep midfield two, or even displaying his versatility at right-back so no one can question his work-ethic nor his ability as it is on show every single week.
The situation has heavily worked in Bacuna’s favour as the boss clearly admires his fearlessness in the tackle, tenacity in the press as well as his technical ability to pass through the lines and drive with the ball.
When the inevitable rebuild occurs in the summer, Siewert must work everything around Bacuna as he is clearly a player who understands what is required in the system and has an abundance of potential that could be unlocked with the Terriers.
Given that both Aaron Mooy and Philip Billing could potentially on their way out in the summer to raise funds, Siewert will have little choice but to use Bacuna regardless as there is not really strength in depth in the middle of the park, however, it will be one of the easier decisions he will have time make during his time at Town, as Bacuna must be central to what is trying to be built at Town.
