Nottingham Forest fans must be starting to get very fed up with their side’s performances as Martin O’Neill is currently forcing the club to take a step backwards.
Forest’s play-off hopes are vanishing and so is the hope of supporters as many are calling for a change of manager, which could be in the offing in the summer if things continue to go from bad to worse.
However, one thing that will please supporters is the fact that one of the club’s loan players is excelling at this moment in time, as Tyler Walker has been prolific at League Two club Mansfield Town.
The Englishman’s contract runs out in 2021 (as per BBC) so he still has plenty of time to make inroads at the City Ground, which is exactly what could happen if he continues to impress.
Walker has produced an incredible 23 goals and four assists in all competitions this season, which makes Lewis Grabban’s contributions look like nothing.
Grabban has been Forest’s only real goal threat at the pinnacle of the attack as the club’s other strikers have struggled for consistency, so reinforcements are definitely needed in that area.
Indeed, the 22-year-old has made 38 appearances for Nottingham Forest but he just wasn’t able to showcase all of his skills as a youngster, which could be put down to him being introduced to proceedings too early. But, he now looks ready to tackle the Championship after impressing at Mansfield, so Forest must use him next season.
Yates has been Forest’s secret weapon this season as he’s made a name for himself after being included in the first-team ranks by Martin O’Neill, so it would make sense for the Midlands club to do the same with Walker next season.
Fans could be in for a treat if he follows in Yates’ footsteps.
