Southampton managed to secure an incredible victory last time out as they won 3-2 against Arsenal in Ralph Hasenhuttl’s first match in charge at St Mary’s.
The Saints will be desperate to climb up the table after victory over Arsenal as they’ve shown that they can grind out a positive result against one of the best sides in the Premier League.
However, with the January transfer window on the horizon, there’re still a number of changes that need to be made in order to make life easier for Hasenhuttl.
So, perhaps the Saints will finally be able to solve their striker issues, as a January swoop could uncover Southampton’s next hero.
Southampton haven’t been able to get the best out of their strikers this season, apart from Danny Ings, as the likes of Manolo Gabbiadini, Charlie Austin and Shane Long have only produced four goals between them.
Therefore, the January transfer window will be of huge importance as Ralph Hasenhuttl desperately needs to secure the services of an attacker that can guarantee goals in the side to provide support for Ings.
Indeed, one player that has been linked with a move to St Mary’s recently is Ajax’s Kasper Dolberg, as it’s understood that Southampton are the latest club to have expressed an interest in the Danish international.
The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the hottest prospects in world football over the past couple of years, having scored bags of goals over in Holland. He currently has seven goals and three assists to his name in the current campaign and has a lot of experience in Europe already.
Of course, with supporters dreaming about another striker that can provide goals at the pinnacle of the attack at St Mary’s, Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier springs to mind. The attacker was prolific during his time at the club as he managed to score 164 goals in 380 appearances, including a number of wonder goals and mazy runs.
Le Tissier and Dolberg are similar in many ways, as the youngster has an eagle eye for goal, incredible dribbling ability and can hold up play, which makes him almost impossible to deal with.
Kasper Dolberg is a special talent who has already shown that he can perform at the highest level, having produced a consistent flow of goals for current club Ajax. So, perhaps he can give supporters something to shout about by becoming the next Matt Le Tissier if Southampton make the move in January.
