He’s made quite the impression, hasn’t he? Rolando Aarons has been a mainstay in Steve Bruce’s side and he is certainly the player that the Sheffield Wednesday boss should look to bring in as his first summer signing.
Bruce should look to continue to develop his Wednesday side with a balanced mix of experience and youth that has served him well so far this season. Ahead of next campaign, to retain a section of the youthful element in his side, he should move for Newcastle United’s Rolando Aarons.
The 23-year-old will reportedly be offered to the Owls on a permanent deal following his loan, as per ChronicleLive, and this is a deal that Wednesday should certainly take up United on.
Aarons has struggled to establish himself at the Magpies over the years, but the tricky winger’s attacking threat and ability to hold his own defensively has not gone amiss at Wednesday.
He has amounted nine Championship appearances for the Owls so far. In that time he has contributed with just the one goal and one assist, but he has helped aid the chances created for the forwards significantly.
The seven games between now and the end of the season present a good opportunity for Aarons to really prove himself to Bruce and ensure that he takes a long hard look at him as a possible signing this summer.
With George Boyd’s contract expiring in the summer, Wednesday need depth out wide and they need to have the quality to make a consistent push for the play-offs throughout the campaign. Aarons offers that and could be a part of this Wednesday side that Bruce could potentially take to the next level.
