Swansea are now without a win in three matches after falling to Aston Villa at the weekend.
The Swans were unlucky to be on the losing side at Villa Park, after spurning some good chances, but nonetheless that is the nature of football and manager Graham Potter has a lot to think about.
The club looked to be in a very healthy position a month ago, but have unfortunately slumped since then. The irony is that that has coincided with a lot of their players returning from injury. Two of those men are midfield duo Leroy Fer and Tom Carroll.
The Dutchman got the nod ahead of the former Tottenham man for the match against Villa but was less than impressive. It is clear that he is still on the road back to full fitness as he looked very sloppy in possession, losing the ball far more than what is usually expected from him. With such a quick turnaround between matches, it would be wise to rest him tonight in order to manage his workload as he returns from injury.
On the other hand, Carroll was on the bench for the first 65 minutes at Villa Park. However, once he came on, he made a major impact on the game, showing a real creative influence. Potter simply needs to start the 26-year-old in order to get The Swans’ attack going.
Unfortunately for the manager, his job doesn’t get much easier, as his team travel to seventh place Blackburn Rovers tonight. The Rovers are fresh off a win against title contenders Leeds at the weekend, and will certainly come into the game with a lot of confidence.Like what the TT have on offer?
