Nottingham Forest managed to return to winning ways last time out against Middlesbrough, but it doesn’t really mean anything in the grand scheme of things as their play-off hopes are over.
One worry for Forest heading into the summer transfer window is the future of Jack Colback as he’s set to return to his parent club Newcastle United once his loan deal expires at the City Ground.
But, Forest may have already found a replacement for the midfielder as one of the club’s current loan players is excelling while out on loan at Mansfield Town…
Jorge Grant spent the first half of the season on loan at Luton Town before joining Mansfield Town in January.
The 24-year-old operates in the middle of midfield or as an attacking midfielder and he’s produced eight goals and five assists this season. He has the ability to keep things tight in midfield areas and he can influence the game in the final third, so he’d be perfect for Nottingham Forest next season.
Jack Colback has been one of the standout performers for Forest this season but the one area of his game that requires improvement is in the final third. Grant could just be the perfect man to replace Colback as he can make up for the Englishman’s lack of quality in attacking areas.
And, he could save the club millions in the process as they won’t have to splash out on a replacement.
The Newcastle man could still rock up at the City Ground permanently in the summer of course, but it remains to be seen.
