Newcastle United will be looking to build on their last result as they managed to secure all three points against Huddersfield Town away from home.
The Magpies haven’t had it all their own way in the current campaign as Rafa Benitez has struggled to grind out positive results on a regular basis, but they’ve certainly looked better in recent times.
However, with funds possibly being low in the January transfer window due to all the takeover speculation, perhaps the Spaniard should dip into the club’s youth ranks.
Newcastle have struggled for creativity at times in the current campaign as the likes of Matt Ritchie and Kenedy haven’t been able to live up to expectations. But, Salomon Rondon has been able to save their blushes in recent times as he continues to thrive under the pressure at St James’ Park.
The January transfer window provides Benitez with the opportunity to strengthen by bringing in proven players to boost their Premier League campaign, but taking a look at the club’s thriving youth system wouldn’t go amiss.
One player who is making all the headlines this season is Callum Roberts. The 21-year-old is an attack-minded winger, who has managed to produce a whopping 10 goals and eight assists in just 14 games this season.
He was included in Benitez’s pre-season plans and impressed against FC Porto, but he is yet to appear for the first-team in the current campaign.
Therefore, with Rondon currently struggling for support in the final third and with other players failing to carry their weight at times this season, perhaps Benitez should turn to the Englishman having seen his quality and ability to provide valuable contributions in the Under-23 ranks this season.
