Despite Unai Emery effectively ruling out any permanent signings being made this month, Arsenal continue to be linked with a host of names.
And of those names include Yannick Carrasco with the player’s wife Noemie Happart confirming to RTBF (via Daily Mirror) that there is interest from England in the Dalian Yifang winger.
Based on Emery’s words, though, a move for Carrasco in this moment of time seems highly unlikely.
Arsenal, however, could still very much do with a player of Carrasco’s profile, and would be wise to pursue him when their finances allow them to do so if he is still available by then.
After central defence, out wide is probably where the Gunners are at their weakest with Alex Iwobi and Henrikh Mkhitaryan, who has underwhelmed since joining the club from Manchester United around this time last year, the only real wingers Emery currently has at disposal.
Considering that, £18m-rated (Transfermarkt) Carrasco is just what the Spaniard needs going forward while his arrival would also be one that should bring some real excitement to the Emirates.
The 25-year-old is a very skilful footballer who absolutely thrives in 1v1 situations with his trickery and overall footwork.
He is the sort of player spectators pay to watch and his addition would undoubtedly help Arsenal to become a more threatening side out wide.
In recent weeks, Sead Kolasinac and Ainsley Maitland-Niles have been very effective when attacking from the wing-back positions. With Carrasco in the starting XI, the Gunners could cause even more havoc down the flanks.
The north London club, though, are obviously a long way off from signing Carrasco given their current financial predicament while it is not clear how concrete their interest in the Belgium international actually is.
But be it now or in the summer, Arsenal could desperately do with Carrasco or a player in the same mould as the former Atletico Madrid man.
