West Ham United will be hopeful that they can secure a European spot in the current campaign, after investing heavily back in the summer transfer window.
The Hammers have certainly looked impressive at times in the current campaign but they’ve not been able to ensure consistency, which has halted their progress.
However, it looks as if the London club are set to lose their star man Marko Arnautovic, as according to the Express, Manuel Pellegrini and the board are working hard to find his replacement.
So, the Hammers will need to find a replacement almost immediately as the Austrian has been influential at the London Stadium so far this season.
Arnautovic was the subject of a £36 million bid from Shanghai SIPG last week, which was firmly rejected. And, it’s thought that another Chinese Super League club Guangzhou Evergrande entered formal negotiations with the 29-year-old on Friday, which has forced Pellegrini to look at potential replacements.
Marko Arnautovic has established himself as one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season, with an impressive eight goal to his name, so he will be sorely missed if he ends up departing.
One player who could easily make fans forget about Arnautovic’s presence is Shakhtar Donetsk’s Junior Moraes.
Surprisingly, the striker is currently valued at £2.7 million (by Transfermarkt), after joining the Ukrainian club as a free agent back in the summer transfer window.
The Brazilian has been prolific since moving to the Ukraine, having produced an impressive 18 goals in 25 appearances, along with nine assists.
Of course, Arnautovic was very impressive during the first half of the season but he hasn’t exactly been the most prolific of players, despite leading the line for a period of time.
The London Stadium would have a new hero if David Gold and David Sullivan splash the cash on Moraes, as he has shown that he can produce an incredible amount of goals in the current campaign, including three in the Champions League. And, with his creativity helping him produce nine goals this season, he could definitely take their attack to another level and help the likes of Felipe Anderson and Javier Hernandez thrive in the final third.
