Following their terrible Premier League campaign last year, West Brom seem completely reborn under Darren Moore and have become one of the best attacking sides in the league and as it stands, look set to be serious contenders for promotion this season.
West Brom face Derby this evening and it’s a game that is going to be tough for Moore’s side. Frank Lampard’s Derby team have been very impressive this year and currently, sit 5th in the Championship while Moore’s West Brom are pushing for the top spot.
Over the summer, Moore brought in Dwight Gayle and Harvey Barnes to bolster the side’s attacking threat and as it stands, West Brom have scored an impressive 31 goals this season, thanks to Gayle and his strike partner, Jay Rodriguez.
Loanee, Gayle has scored eight goals this season, only two behind top scorer Neal Maupay and seems to be showing the form he showed during Newcastle’s promotion campaign.
The striker’s pace and movement has been a welcome change to a team that for years was known for its fairly boring, conservative style of football. With Gayle in the side, the team has been given the ability to play at speed, on the break and direct.
Derby’s defence has been fairly average this season and could well be taken apart by the West Brom duo. If Gayle can keep up his form tonight, Derby could well be in for a long night and a game in which might be incredibly tough for them.
