Rangers won’t want to lose sight of Celtic in the race for the Scottish Premiership title, so the January transfer window could play a huge part.
The Bluenoses have definitely impressed under the guidance of Steven Gerrard in the current campaign, but things could be a whole lot better.
Of course, the Glasgow club could turn their attention towards securing a number of players in the January transfer window, but there’s no need when they already have a top prospect in their ranks.
So, with Kyle Lafferty struggling to provide support for Alfredo Morelos, Gerrard should turn to the club’s youth ranks to find a gem.
Kyle Lafferty has been a huge disappointment since moving to Rangers as he continues to struggle in front of goal, with five goals in 27 appearances. So, a replacement needs to be found almost immediately as Alfredo Morelos will inevitably drop off the pace at some point.
One player that has been making all the headlines in the youth ranks is Dapo Mebude, who recently signed a new deal that will keep him at the club until 2021.
Mebude has already caught the eye of Gerrard in the reserves this season, which led to him training with the first team squad recently. The 17-year-old is arguably the most exciting prospect since Billy Gilmour, so it’s safe to say that he has a very bright future ahead of him.
He’s known for his lightening quick pace as well as his obvious finishing ability and is a handful for defenders with his trickery. And, having witnessed Glenn Middleton’s rise to stardom, it gives Gerrard even more incentive to give another promising player a chance.
Importantly, Mebude has all the ingredients to become a future Ibrox hero having already received full backing from the club’s supporters, with his goalscoring ability, trickery and pace at the pinnacle of the attack making him a very similar player to Morelos.
