TT Introduces: Diego Simeone as next Tottenham manager

Despite not having ended Tottenham Hotspur’s trophy drought as of yet, Mauricio Pochettino has done a fine job at the north London outfit.

The Argentine arrived at White Hart Lane back in 2014 after impressing many with his time at Southampton and quickly shone for Spurs.

The former defender has led the club to the Champions League as well as having put together strong runs to the Premier League title, however, they failed to make their form count at times and had to pay the price.

Currently, Spurs are enjoying their best ever start to a season, which has led to an increase in interest from some of Europe’s top clubs, whilst the debacle of the new stadium and his inability to add new players in the summer are likely to have frustrated him somewhat.

Should Pochettino decide that the time for change has come, or simply receive an opportunity that is too good for him to turn down, then Tottenham could look to target this man to help take them to the next level.

Diego Simeone has been excelling as a manager at Atletico Madrid since being named in the role back in 2011.

The Argentine, who had two spells as a player for the Spanish outfit, has managed to successfully guide his side to a La Liga title, as well as two Europa League campaigns, whilst also becoming runners-up in the Champions League on two separate occasions.

The former defensive midfielder plays an exciting range of football and appears to have mastered his tactics when facing his opponents.

The 48-year-old has also managed to bring discipline and installed a confidence in his players, which although Spurs do not currently lack, he could give them that little bit more to take them to the next level.

Despite no one wanting to see Pochettino depart anytime soon, that winning background would be welcomed at White Hart Lane and could only surely be a good thing.
