After an incredible start to the season, following the departure of Dean Smith, Brentford have fallen down the table and now look like promotion is out of their grasp.
Under Smith, Brentford had become one of the best attacking teams in the league, led by the sensational Neal Maupay. The Frenchman has been a standout player for the club but at the back, Brentford have unearthed another gem in former Charlton man, Ezri Konsa.
The 21-year-old defender joined the club in June for just £2.85 million and due to his superb performances at the back, he has attracted interest from Arsenal.
Konsa is yet another superb talent to emerge from the Charlton academy as he follows the likes of Ademola Lookman, Carl Jenkinson and Joe Gomez.
The defender has played 19 games for the west London side this season and has quickly established himself as one of the best young players in the league this year.
The England Under-21 international is still early in his career, and therefore his ability to read the game still needs work but that will come as he plays more games and gets to grips with the intensity of the game.
In terms of his strengths, he is a superb athlete and despite not being incredibly tall, he has the physicality to play in the Premier League and certainly has the pace.
With Rob Holding out with a serious injury and with Laurent Koscielny nearing the end of his career at the club, Arsenal need a defender. He might not play straight away but Konsa could certainly be a long-term option.
