Signed for a club record fee in the summer from Lazio, Felipe Anderson has so far proved to be a superb signing for West Ham this season and today, he’s going to be a huge threat to a Spurs side that has so far been incredibly inconsistent.
The Brazilian had a fairly uninspiring time in Serie A and only had one season where he registered double digits in the league. For the most of the remainder of his career in Italy, Anderson was a player that showed promise but never really delivered.
This season, however, he’s proven to be a superb piece of business and during the early part of the season, he’s been the key man for Pellegrini and along with Marko Arnautovic.
The Hammers go into today’s game, on the back of some slight resurgence in form despite losing to Brighton before the international break and Anderson could well be the man to cause West Ham some trouble.
With Jan Vertonghen out, it seems Tottenham will probably stick with a four at the back in a 4-3-3 formation which will match up with Pellegrini’s preferred shape as of late. In Tripper and possibly Lucas Moura on the flank, Felipe Anderson could well have plenty of space to attack and could expose Tottenham down the right flank.
The Brazilian is excellent at picking the ball up from deep and driving forward in a one-man counter-attack. Moreover, his link-up play with Marko Arnautovic is going to be key for the east London club. Although he’s only scored one goal to go with one assist, according to West Ham’s website, the forward has created 13 chances and has been the most creative player in the Premier League over the last four matchdays according to the ICT Creativity Index.
With that in mind, West Ham fans should be excited to see what the Brazilian can do today.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
