TT Introducing: James Maddison as the man who’ll struggle against Lucas Torreira

Arsenal go into tonight’s game against Leicester City hoping to make it 10 wins in their last 10.

After a fairly tough start, the Gunners have put together a superb run of form and at the moment, it’s bee surprising to many to see Unai Emery’ men only two points off the leading pack.

Thanks to the form of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, there’s a much more positive feeling around Arsenal at the moment. The Gunners face a Leicester City side that has so far, had a fairly dramatic start to their season.

Under Claude Puel, Leicester have at times shown that they are definitely a top 10 team but also at times that they could slip into the bottom half. One of the star men for the Midlands side so far this season has been former Norwich man, James Maddison who tonight is going to find it hard to get much space against Arsenal’s midfield terrier, Lucas Torreira.

On course to be one of the best signings of the summer, Lucas Torreira has added steel and energy into an Arsenal side that at times has looked incredibly weak. Despite fellow new recruit Matteo Guendouzi performing well so far this year, it was clear early on that Torreira would be the starting midfielder alongside Granit Xhaka.

The Switzerland international has played much better with Torreira alongside him and is now able to pass from deep knowing that he has a partner that can cover for him.

Likewise, for Leicester, they too have a summer recruit who has been playing very well. Since his arrival from Norwich City, James Maddison has proved to be an absolute steal for Leicester since his arrival and has been in superb form and even earned a call-up into Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

While the midfielder has been excellent form, he faces a midfielder in Torreira who won’t allow him any space or time and could well shut out the maestro.
