Following a superb start to the season, Liverpool have endured a tough last few weeks as the Merseyside club have struggled to get back to winning ways.
Indeed, Klopp’s side have only won one of their last five games which came at the weekend. Before then, Liverpool had suffered a tough run of fixtures which had seen them play Chelsea twice, Napoli and Man City.
Central to that run of fairly sub-par form was the fact that the players were beginning to show signs of fatigue. Both James Milner and Virgil Van Dijk, picked up knocks while star man Mohamed Salah, doesn’t look like he’s fully fit.
At the weekend, however, the Egypt attacker scored the club’s sole goal and looked like he was starting to get back to his best.
Following his terrific season last season, the expectations on the winger were incredibly high but so far this year, he’s only managed four goals in the league.
It’s been a tough few months for the Egyptian following his injury in the Champions League, his clash with the Egypt FA and more recently his forced substitution in Egypt’s African Cup of Nations qualifier.
Although it may not have been the club his best performance in Liverpool shirt at the weekend, the winger’s usual pace and agility seemed to be back. Following such a horrendous fixture list, Jurgen Klopp is going to need his star man back fit and firing to push the club up the table and make sure they qualify for the next round of Champions League fixtures.
Tonight, we might just see Salah put on a top performance.
