After a terrible start to the season, Aston Villa might just have got their season back on track following the appointment of superb manager Dean Smith from Brentford.
Under Steve Bruce, Villa had made a terrible start to the season and are currently 15th in the table after having only won three games out of 12 this season. Due to that terrible run of form, the board sacked Steve Bruce and brought in the superb Smith in combination with his assistant Richard O’Kelly and John Terry.
During his time at Brentford, Smith turned the west London side into one of the most attractive sides in the Championship and if given time, he might be able to do that with Villa. With the talent at the club, especially going forward, Villa could well have a superb strikeforce and already this season, they have scored 20 goals in the Championship.
In midfield, however, Villa severely lack depth in midfield and according to The Sun, the Midlands side is interested in taking Manchester United midfielder, Scott Mctominay on loan for the season.
After impressing Mourinho in his first season at the club, McTominay has found it hard to break into the first-team this season and when he has played, he has played out of position in defence.
Despite not having a wealth of experience in first-team football, the midfielder could be a welcome addition to Smith’s side and would give him some decent depth at the back. He’s good with the ball, physical and has the energy to fit into Smith’s side.
Villa need some depth in midfield, and bringing in McTominay could address that.
