As the season progresses, it’s going to be essential that Klopp’s squad players begin to step up and play a big role in the side.
As we’ve seen in the last few weeks, some of the club’s first-team players have begun to pick some injuries and as we go forward, he’ll need the other members of the squad to step in and give his stars a rest.
Signed from Hull City in 2017, Andrew Robertson has turned into one of the best fullbacks in the league and is on course to be one of the best in Europe. The 24-year-old’s emergence has solved a massive problem for Liverpool and has allowed Klopp to keep the error-prone Alberto Moreno on the bench.
The Spaniard is apparently a target for Barcelona and if he does leave, Liverpool will need someone who can step in and in the youth academy, they may already have some waiting to come into the squad in Tony Gallacher.
Signed in January from Scottish side Falkirk for £200,000, Gallacher is the latest young exciting dynamic fullback to emerge. At just 16, Gallacher made his debut for Falkirk and had already made 26 appearances for the club before making the move down south.
He’s been playing with the club’s under-23s this season and such is his talent that he looks ready to take the backup role behind Robertson. With James Milner also able to play in that role, Gallacher wouldn’t have to play too many games but could well pick up some valuable experience.
He’s quick, strong, technically excellent and is an ideal fit for Klopp’s high-paced style of play. Not only does it look like Liverpool have an ideal back up on their hands but also a potential star.
