# West Ham: Fans rage at Said Benrahma’s omission against Manchester City

**West Ham United are taking on Manchester City in the first Premier League game of the day.**

Having taken a [1-0](https://www.sofascore.com/west-ham-united-manchester-city/rM) lead into half-time against Pep Guardiola’s side, you would expect the Hammers fan base to be pleased. However, some have found a reason to complain, namely a decision from David Moyes.

The manager has not named new signing Said Benrahma in the [matchday squad](https://twitter.com/WestHam/status/1319949254236860416?s=20), much to the disappointment of many fans who were very [excited](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/west-ham-news/west-ham-fans-react-as-said-benrahma-is-already-impressing-in-training/) to see him play.

The winger had a terrific campaign last season for Brentford as he scored 17 goals and also supplied nine assists ([WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/137021/History/Sa%C3%AFd-Benrahma)). He often proved a menace for opposition defences, as highlighted by his remarkable match averages of 3.8 shots, 2.1 key passes and three dribbles.

He has earned a lot of praise in the Championship, including from his former manager Thomas Frank, who called him [‘magnificent’.](https://www.sportsmole.co.uk/football/brentford/news/thomas-frank-heaps-praise-on-magnificent-said-benrahma_388448.html)

Journalist [Sam Inkersole](https://twitter.com/Sam_InkersoleTM/status/1319953905653063682?s=20) confirmed it was not due to injury but more down to fitness. However, Benrahma’s omission did not go down well with these Irons fans, one of whom branded Moyes “stubborn”.

### Here is how West Ham fans are reacting to this Benrahma news:

> He’s only played a couple of times this season for Brentford and not since early October. Disappointing that he hasn’t made the bench but not a surprise really

> Nothing to do with the fact Moyes didn’t want to sign him? 🤔

> Good to see Moyes sticking with the same team. They deserve to have him keep the faith. Shame Benrahma couldn’t make the bench though. > Gutted that Benrahma didn’t make the team today, but it’s fair if he isn’t fit for today. He hasn’t played in the league since October 4th in all fairness.
