# Rangers: Jack Butland would ‘be a really good fit’

**[Transfer expert Dean Jones](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer) says that reported summer target Jack Butland would ‘be a really good fit’ at [Glasgow Rangers](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/).**

### The Lowdown: Wilson target

It has been [reported](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/rangers-fc-news/jack-butland-transfer-news-man-utd-palace/) that sporting director Ross Wilson has made Butland his ‘preferred target’ in the goalkeeping position this summer.

The Crystal Palace shot-stopper, who is currently on loan at Manchester United, has been on the radar at Ibrox for a while, and is thought to be ‘keen’ on a possible move.

### The Latest: ‘Good fit’

Speaking to [GiveMeSport](https://www.givemesport.com/rangers-transfer-news-40k-a-week-premier-league-star-good-fit-ibrox/), Jones says that Butland would ‘be a really good fit’ at the Gers, adding that he is a ‘fantastic’ player to have in and around the dressing room:

*“There are plenty of good goalkeepers, but it’s about understanding what Rangers are as a football club and what it takes to thrive in that environment.*

*“I think Jack Butland is a fantastic person to have around the dressing room. He’s got big experience, too. I think he’d be a really good fit, particularly for Rangers next season, if they do go down that path.”*

### The Verdict: No-brainer

Signing Butland is certainly a no-brainer for the Light Blues, especially considering that current number one Allan McGregor is 41 years of age, and is [out of contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/allan-mcgregor/profil/spieler/9422) in the summer.

The six-foot-five colossus is capable of coming in and establishing himself as a regular in between the sticks, having made [87](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-butland/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/128899/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=) appearances in total in the English Premier League, and has been capped [nine](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jack-butland/nationalmannschaft/spieler/128899) times by England.

Indeed, Butland has plenty of experience playing at a high level, and at 30 years of age, is significantly younger than McGregor.

Nonetheless, he would certainly be a smart signing from the Teddy Bears, as a direct replacement for the veteran.
