# Everton: Fans fume over James Rodriguez transfer update

**Some Everton fans have been left fuming as a transfer update emerged on James Rodriguez.**

As per transfer expert [Ekrem Konur](https://twitter.com/Ekremkonur/status/1429044514212175878), Newcastle United plan to hold talks with the Goodison Park club over the Colombia international at the request of Steve Bruce.

Rodriguez has [yet to feature](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-rodriguez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/88103) for the Merseyside club so far this season amid uncertainties over his future, but he showed in the last campaign just how important he is to the team.

The former Real Madrid star scored six goals and provided a further nine assists in 26 games across all competitions in 2020/21 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/james-rodriguez/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/88103/plus/0?saison=&verein=29&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)), and it would be gutting to lose a player of his quality after just one year, especially to a Premier League rival so late in the transfer window.
