# Tottenham Hotspur: Jan Oblak signing would be ‘incredible’

**[Tottenham Hotspur](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/) ‘should be at the front of the queue’ to sign [Jan Oblak](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jan-oblak/) this summer, according to pundit Paul Robinson.**

### The Lowdown: Spurs eyeing Oblak

Tottenham are [interested](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/tottenham-spurs-also-interested-in-signing-jan-oblak/) in signing Oblak to replace Hugo Lloris this summer, as the club’s existing relationship with Atletico Madrid is potentially giving them an [advantage](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/spurs-jan-oblak-transfer-news-rumours/) in the race for his signature.

Lloris has been [sidelined](https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12805996/tottenham-goalkeeper-hugo-lloris-ruled-out-for-six-to-eight-weeks-with-knee-injury) for the next six – eight weeks with a knee injury, and journalist Dean Jones has [claimed](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tottenham-hotspur-news/hugo-lloris-future-news-update-latest/) it could prove to be ‘the beginning of the end’, in terms of the Frenchman’s future with Spurs.

### The Latest: Robinson reacts

Speaking to [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/tottenham-backed-to-sign-jan-oblak-and-teammate-after-incredible-update-from-spain-expert/),  Robinson raved about the Atletico shot-stopper, as well as his teammate Yannick Carrasco, saying:

*“Oblak would be an incredible signing.*

*“I’ve been an admirer of his for a long time. He is the next level of goalkeeper that Spurs need.*

*“Oblak has been a big part of Atletico Madrid’s success over the past few years. I’m surprised that his name does not get linked with more Premier League clubs.*

*“If they could get Oblak and Carrasco that would be even better. There is clearly a strong relationship between the two clubs. If Oblak and Carrasco are available and are keen to come to the Premier League, Spurs should be at the front of the queue.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done?

There is no doubt that it is time for Lloris to move on, given that he has [made](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/error_lead_to_goal) more errors leading to goals than any other player in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) this season, and the Slovenian would be a very good replacement.

Koke [hailed](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/koke-oblak-rangnick-degea-manutd-26480131) the 30-year-old as ‘the best goalkeeper in the world’ a little under a year ago, and he is enjoying another solid season in La Liga, with the [joint-second](https://www.transfermarkt.com/laliga/weisseweste/wettbewerb/ES1) highest amount of clean sheets in the division.

Given that Oblak’s [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.com/jan-oblak/profil/spieler/121483) does not expire until 2028, it may be difficult to tempt Atletico into a sale, but he would be a real upgrade on Spurs’ current goalkeeper, and they should continue to monitor his availability between now and the summer.
