# Celtic: Neil Lennon confirms extent of Jeremie Frimpong’s injury

**Celtic manager Neil Lennon admitted that he believes Jeremie Frimpong could be out for a significant amount of time.**

### Frimpong fears

The 19-year-old was on the receiving end of a heavy tackle from Motherwell striker Devante Cole during Celtic’s [4-1](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54766671) victory at Fir Park, with boss Stephen Robinson insisting there was “no malice” in the challenge (cited by the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/local-sport/motherwell-boss-no-malice-devante-22977249)).

A hat-trick from Southampton loanee Mohamed Elyounoussi helped the Hoops get over the line after he was heavily criticised for being caught on his phone during his side’s 4-1 defeat to Sparta Prague last week (via [Football Insider](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/celtic-news/noel-whelan-mohamed-elyounoussi-europa-league-parkhead/)).

“I didn’t get a good view of it because Jerry’s back was to me but I saw the replay and he’s high and late,” he said. “He’s in a lot of discomfort at the minute.

“It could be ligament damage, we don’t know yet. We will have to assess him over the next couple of days.”

It is a worrying scenario that could hamper Celtic’s attacking prowess with crucial games on the horizon.

Labeled as a “dangerous weapon” by Riga assistant manager Mihails Konevs (cited by the [Daily Record](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/jeremie-frimpong-earns-dangerous-praise-22740352)), Frimpong will be sorely missed by Lennon.

On the other hand, Elyounoussi’s trio of goals will reassure the Irish tactician that he can still get goals without the young Dutchman.
