# Leeds: Joe Donnohue makes Raphinha transfer fee claim

**Leeds United star Raphinha could be sold for three times the amount the Whites paid for him, according to journalist Joe Donnohue.**

### The Lowdown: Raphinha’s star continues to rise

The Brazilian has been a fantastic signing for the Whites, being [hailed](https://tbrfootball.com/jermaine-beckford-lavishes-praise-on-phenomenal-leeds-star-raphinha/) as ‘electric’ by Jermaine Beckford and [scoring 11 goals in 41 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/raphinha/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/411295/verein/399) for the club.

It was Raphinha who opened the scoring in Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Leicester, with the winger curling a free-kick into the far corner.

The 24-year-old’s form has unsurprisingly seen him [linked](https://ge.globo.com/futebol/selecao-brasileira/noticia/noticias-selecao-brasileira-raphinha-leeds-liverpool-mercado-da-bola-deco-empresario.ghtml) with a move away from Elland Road, with big clubs circling like vultures.

### The Latest: Joe Donnohue names potential price for Raphinha

Speaking to [GIVEMESPORT](https://www.givemesport.com/1781543-leeds-transfer-news-fresh-claim-emerges-on-price-tag-of-key-elland-road-star), Donnohue claimed that any prospective suitors could need to pay more than £50m for Raphinha’s services, having cost Leeds [£17m](https://www.goal.com/en-us/news/leeds-sign-brazilian-winger-raphinha-from-rennes-for-17m/1wk74k6k3zzvq1a9xpr9w6zn28) last year. He said:

> “I think you’re looking at at least three times the figure they paid if he were to be sold. It would depend on the timing that he’d be sold.
>
> “I think you’re looking at, at the very minimum, three times that £17million figure.”

### The Verdict: Big money or nothing

If Raphinha is to move on from Leeds, which may well eventually be the case, it is vital that they receive a hefty fee for him, breaking the club’s [record departure fee](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/rekordabgaenge/verein/399) set by Rio Ferdinand when he joined Manchester United.

The Brazil international is a hugely influential figure at Elland Road, posting by far the highest [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/19/Show/England-Leeds) rating in Marcelo Bielsa’s squad so far this season, and the Whites will need the money to replace him with a similar talented wide man.

In an ideal world, Raphinha would stay at Leeds for many more years, but it is only natural that he may have Champions League aspirations moving forward.
