# Liverpool: Fans slam James Pearce’s Player of the Year choice

**It has been a fantastic year for Liverpool so far, and there are plenty of players who could claim to be named the club’s Player of the Year.**

Mohamed Salah has been club’s top goalscorer with [20](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-liverpool/leistungsdaten/verein/31) strikes in all competitions, whilst Trent Alexander-Arnold has bagged [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/reldata/%262019/plus/1) assists. Virgil van Dijk has [played every single minute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/virgil-van-dijk/leistungsdaten/spieler/139208) in the Premier League as the Reds have the [best defence](https://www.skysports.com/prehttps://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/liverpool-fc/leistungsdaten/verein/31/reldata/%262019/plus/1) in the top flight, whilst Alisson was awarded [the Yachine trophy](https://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/first-team/376003-alisson-becker-wins-yachine-trophy-goalkeeper-award) last term.

However, it seems that Jordan Henderson is the favourite to get the recognition at Anfield this time out. He has already been [tipped](https://talksport.com/football/658561/liverpool-jordan-henderson-player-of-the-year-durham-bent/) to win the league accolade, and now James Pearce has [backed him to finish on top of the pile](https://twitter.com/JamesPearceLFC/status/1253234039877664768) for his club as well.

That, though, is not the general consensus amongst the club’s supporters, it seems – one fan even called his choice “shocking behaviour”. They have taken to the journalist’s post, and have shared their disagreement with his choice. You can see some of the best comments from social media platform below.

> Come on now , we can give Hendo all the credits and he’s been very influential this season but better than Mane and Van Dijk ? Surely no one thinks that 🤭🤭🙃
