# Liverpool: Fans loved Jordan Henderson winning BBC Sport’s Player of the Year

**There was once a time when Jordan Henderson was a pariah among many Liverpool fans.**

Not too long ago, he was constantly [lambasted](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/liverpool-fans-slam-jordan-henderson-12283343) by portions of the club’s fanbase who felt he wasn’t good enough to play for their team – how times have changed. Now, he is arguably [one of their favourite players](https://live4liverpool.com/2020/04/view-from-the-kop/liverpool-fans-salute-jordan-henderson-for-his-role-in-premier-league-players-anti-coronavirus-initiative/), with his leadership as club captain helping the Reds to a [Champions League triumph](https://www.bbc.com/sport/football/48368443) last term and then a [25-point lead](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) at the top of the Premier League this season.

He has even been [tipped](https://talksport.com/football/658561/liverpool-jordan-henderson-player-of-the-year-durham-bent/) to win the Player of the Year award – and [according to BBC Sport](https://www.bbc.com/sport/live/football/52528113), that is exactly what he is. In their season awards, he was given the individual accolade ahead of the likes of Kevin De Bruyne and Sergio Aguero.

Unsurprisingly, this decision has gone down fantastically with many Liverpool supporters. They have taken to Twitter to share their thoughts, and you can see some of the best comments from the social media platform below.
