# Jurgen Klopp delivers verdict on prospect of Liverpool agreeing a deal for impressive midfielder

***The Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern don’t want to see Coutinho leave the club this summer, and it would appear as though Jurgen Klopp is in agreement…***

[Speaking via the Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/10/liverpool-will-resist-barcelona-bid-sign-philippe-coutinho-summer/), Klopp has revealed that the Reds are not planning on selling their star midfielder this summer. He [said](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2017/05/10/liverpool-will-resist-barcelona-bid-sign-philippe-coutinho-summer/): “There are absolutely no plans \[to sell him\]. What our owners say is there is the absolute opportunity not to sell anybody if we do not want to”.

Coutinho has, of course, been touted with a move to La Liga in recent months – with a [recent report from SPORT](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/liverpool-pide-90-millones-por-coutinho-6025140) suggesting that the Reds had slapped a €90 million price-tag on his head.

This revelation has left the Reds in the Transfer Tavern ordering another round of drinks, with the retention of Coutinho clearly vital to Liverpool’s long-term plans. Since moving to the club from Inter Milan, the Brazilian has continually been a key member of the first team – and under Jurgen Klopp, his performances have skyrocketed in quality.

Having scored 10 times this season, it is clear that Coutinho has added goals to his game – which were arguably the only thing lacking during his early days at Anfield.

This summer will certainly be key for Liverpool, but before that – Jurgen Klopp must try and ensure a top four finish. The Reds are currently in third place, leaving many in the pub feeling confident, but as is always the case in the Premier League – anything can happen.
