# Rangers: Glen Kamara discusses new contract

**Glen Kamara has admitted that he has no idea whether Glasgow Rangers have been in contact with his agent over a new contract.**

### **Kamara opens up on future**

Kamara has been in impressive form for the Gers so far this campaign, with Borussia Dortmund and Leeds United even being [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-gerrard-fears-glen-kamara-rangers-exit-leeds-checks) with a move for the Finland international. Alan Hutton has raved over his performances, hailing the midfielder as ‘[fantastic](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-hutton-wowed-by-rangers-bargain-on-a-par-with-tavernier-deal/)‘.

There have been [suggestions](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/steven-gerrard-wants-rangers-to-tie-down-glen-kamara-to-a-new-deal-soon-1603302742000) that that Ibrox outfit are eager to give him a new deal to fend off such interest, but Kamara has admitted that there has been no concrete contact as of yet. He [told Rangers TV](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_11X2qdn9v4) when asked whether talks had started:

> *“That is something I have no idea. I wouldn’t say anything’s happened like that. So I’m just focused on my football and I’m happy to play for Rangers Football Club.”*

### **Start talks soon**

It is vital that the 54-time Scottish champions start talks with Kamara soon – he is a hugely important member of Steven Gerrard’s squad. He has already made [15](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glen-kamara/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/242632) appearances from a possible 17 in all competitions, and he is someone Gerrard can rely on week-in, week-out.

During the summer, Ligue 1 side Marseille were said to be interested in his services. At the time, he was reportedly valued at [€10m](https://www.francefootball.fr/news/Mercato-glen-kamara-glasgow-rangers-plait-a-l-om/1132857) (£9m). Clearly, the Gers would make a large profit on their [£50,000](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/glen-kamara/profil/spieler/242632) investment if they were to sell him, but his importance to the team this term is worth more than any transfer fee. A new contract, at least in the short-term, would guarantee his commitment.
