Adan reels from latest ‘betrayal’

adan.jpgThis particular situation never seems to cease from conversation here at the Football Transfer Tavern and with the latest claims from Marca surrounding Real Madrid and Antonio Adan, it does not come as a shock.

Much has been made of the Real Madrid goalkeeping situation this season. First we had Iker Casillas who was at loggerheads with Jose Mourinho. Then came the simply dire form that saw the team fall not only behind Barcelona but their local rivals Atletico Madrid to boot. Now we have the injury to Iker Casillas and the fallout from that.

The club brought in Diego Lopez from Sevilla at Mourinho’s request as their back up keeper and given the fact that Mourinho publically expressed support in reserve stopper Antonio Adan this season after he replaced a dropped Casillas, one could not be blamed for expecting Adan to become the number one for the remainder of the campaign following Casillas’ injury.

Of course nothing is that simple at Real Madrid and after Lopez has since established himself as the number one choice, Adan is now the subject of discontentment rumours with Marca gleefully detailing his every movement when warming up and as a sub at the weekend.

With the Manchester United matches in the Champions League knockout stages coming up Real need stability more than ever, yet with this latest blow to relations between the club and their players, it is yet more turmoil for Mourinho.
