The Brazilian’s future in France could be over, with a return to Spain seemingly on the cards.
Real Madrid and Barcelona have battled one another for the majority of the summer – both attempting to prize the 27-year-old away from the Parc des Princes – but it is understood that he would prefer a move back to Catalonia rather than Madrid.
After a reported £74m proposal, which included midfielder Philippe Coutinho, for Neymar was turned down by PSG last week, rumours now suggest that full-back Nelson Semedo will be used to negotiate a deal for the forward.
The French champions are looking for a new right-back following the departure of Dani Alves, so are thought to be interested in a part-exchange deal for the 25-year-old.
RAC Sport report that Barca will now submit a ‘written offer’ to PSG for Neymar, with the decision taken yesterday at a summit between the board and the club’s sporting staff.
Having lost their opening La Liga fixture 1-0 to Athletic Bilbao on Friday, Barcelona are already playing catch-up to Real Madrid, who won their first league match 3-1 and now sit top of the pile.
Although it is still extremely early days, with the recent news that striker Luis Suarez has picked up a calf injury and could miss Barcelona’s next match, the reigning champions need reinforcements in the attacking third, with Neymar the ideal candidate to link up with his destructive former teammates at the Camp Nou once again.
During his initial stint at the Camp Nou, he scored over 100 goals in just under 200 appearances, showing the sort of firepower he can bring to Ernesto Valverde’s attack.
