Barcelona: Fans are delighted to see Samuel Umtiti back in the first-team squad

Barcelona defender Samuel Umtiti has been included in Barcelona’s matchday squad for their clash against Eibar in La Liga this weekend.

The Frenchman is yet to feature for the Catalans this term; he was initially an unused substitute for the club’s opening three games against Athletic Bilbao, Real Betis and Osasuna, before a foot injury sustained on international duty has ruled him out of the Blaugrana’s following seven matches (all competitions, via Transfermarkt).

However, after returning to training with the club last week, Umtiti has now been reintroduced into the first-team fold at the Camp Nou, with Barcelona including him in their squad list ahead of their trip to Eibar.

The 25-year-old could lineup alongside Clement Lenglet in the heart of the backline as Gerard Pique is unavailable through suspension.

However, 19-year-old Jean-Clair Todibo started Barca’s last match against Sevilla, and kept a clean sheet, so could be handed another start by manager Ernesto Valverde.

Regardless of whether or not he starts this weekend, plenty of Barcelona fans are delighted to see Umtiti back in the squad after such a lengthy spell on the sidelines…
