Barcelona: Fans attack the board after Puyol news

Barcelona fans have taken to Twitter to express their disappointment and anger towards the board after it was reported by Cadena Sar that club legend Carles Puyol will not become their sporting director.

Puyol retired back in 2014 after spending 20 years at the club, 15 as a senior player and 10 years as the club captain (as told by ESPN). Ever since, there has been a great, big hole left in the Blaugrana squad, not just from a defensive standpoint, but because of the Spaniard’s unrivalled leadership and unique character.

“The lack of leadership has been detrimental to Barcelona,” Bleacher Report wrote back in 2014 as they discussed the club’s decline then and Puyol’s departure.

Indeed, it was a sad day across the globe for Barcelona fans as they said goodbye to one of their own five years ago.

However, much to their disappointment, it seems Puyol has plans away from the club and will not be returning any time soon.
