Barcelona: Fans don’t want Ronald Koeman in charge

Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman is a club legend at Barcelona.

The Dutchman turned out for the Blaugrana 252 times during his illustrious career in Catalonia, scoring an astonishing 82 goals from central defence and holding midfield (via Transfermarkt).

However, some fans aren’t too excited about the idea of Koeman making a Barcelona return in the managerial dugout.

Since retiring from playing in 1997, the 56-year-old has become a success in the managerial game. Koeman initially began as an assistant for the Netherlands, before becoming No.2 at Barca in 1998.

Now in charge of Holland’s national side, Koeman has led the Netherlands to the top of their Euro 2020 qualifying group, winning their previous four matches, per Soccerway.

This week, director of the Dutch FA, Nico-Jan Hoogma, has admitted that Koeman has a clause in his current contract which allows him to leave for Barcelona after Euro 2020, should the club come in for his services and he wishes to leave.

“Agreements were reached on this matter but [Barcelona] would have to pay for it,” Hoogma told Fox Sports. “Ronald has always indicated that he wants to be a coach in Barcelona one day. We’ll see what will happen.” (via Daily Mail).

But Barcelona fans aren’t thrilled at the prospect of Koeman taking over at the Camp Nou next year, as shown by these Tweets below…
