Ansu Fati. Remember the name.
At 16, the teenage winger made history this weekend by becoming the youngest player to score and assist a goal in the same game in La Liga during Barcelona’s 5-2 win over Valencia at the Camp Nou.
He did all that in just seven minutes, too. Fati has been thrown into the deep end by manager Ernesto Valverde due to the recent injuries to Luis Suarez, Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi, and it’s safe to say he’s impressed when called upon.
Saturday’s goal and assist came just a fortnight after Fati scored his debut goal for the Catalans senior side against Osasuna, and with a gruelling schedule approaching for the La Liga champions, which includes matches against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League followed by league games against Granada and Villarreal – all in the next eight days – it is likely that Valverde will once again call upon the teenage prospect.
Unsurprisingly, Barcelona fans have been raving about their 16-year-old starlet on Twitter, check out these comments..
