Barcelona have reportedly submitted a €15m (£12.9m) offer for RB Salzburg’s 17-year-old striker Karim Adeyemi, according to Transfermarkt (via Sport).
The teenage starlet is currently on loan with Salzburg’s feeder team, FC Liefering, where he has notched five goals and four assists in ten appearances so far this season, per Transfermarkt.
La Masia (Barcelona academy) director Patrick Kluivert is thought to be a huge fan of Adeyemi and is desperate to bring him to the Nou Camp, after witnessing the success of 17-year-old Ansu Fati in his breakthrough season at Barcelona.
As per Transfermarkt (via Sport’s) report, Barca have reportedly submitted a £12.9m offer for Adeyemi, though it is suggested that the Austrian side aren’t keen on losing such a highly-rated asset at this early stage of his career.
Should Barcelona sign Lautaro Martinez?
Because of this, it remains to be seen whether or not a deal can be completed for the German, or if the offer will have to be significantly increased for Salzburg to consider a sale.
The reigning Spanish champions are said to be keen on adding Adeyemi to the Barcelona B squad if he does join the club, so that he can continue his technical development with the hope that he would eventually go on to become a key figure for the senior side.
These rumours do suggest that Barcelona are perhaps planning for life after Luis Suarez. There is plenty of talk of the Uruguayan moving on in the not-so-distant future, with many fans of the club believing that his time at the Camp Nou is coming to an end.
Antoine Griezmann looks the natural replacement for Suarez whenever he does move onto pastures new, though acquiring more young talent – like Fati – for the future can only be viewed as a positive step for the Catalan titans.
