Barcelona have announced that they have extended the contract of Carles Perez until the summer of 2022.
The 21-year-old put pen-to-paper on the new deal on Monday, and will now be looking to continue his excellent recent progress at the Nou Camp.
Having made his debut towards the end of last season against Eibar, Perez has gone on to feature in five of Barcelona’s six La Liga outings so far this season.
In that time he has also managed to score his first goal for the club, netting in their 5-2 victory against Real Betis in August. He has also chipped in with two assists so far this term, both coming in a 2-2 draw against Osasuna.
This represents great news for Barcelona, who have been really keen to promote youth players into the first team of late. Perez, along with Ansu Fati, have been the leading lights in terms of youngsters this season and both are putting pressure on the more senior players for positions in the starting 11.
The club’s supporters are generally happy to see Perez sign a new contract, with several taking to Twitter to express their delight at one of their academy products committing his future to the club.
