Barcelona’s Messi Diminishes Himself By Diving

When Barcelona faced Sporting Gijon On Sunday night it wasn’t the most enthralling of matches, but we did get a slight sense of amusement when the man himself Lionel Messi became the latest member to join the ‘divers cub’.

You wouldn’t associate the two together, but this just comes to shows that Messi is like the rest of us. Messi was accused of milking it when fouled in the box by Sporting defender Alberto Botia. This was not the first time Messi has been accused of diving, earlier in the month Messi was produced a yellow card in there 2-2 draw to Real Sociedad.

Coach Pep Guardiola quickly came to the aid of the Argentinean born genius and had this to say ” I don’t see it, but everyone should know that when Messi falls, it’s because he’s violated. The officers knew the game better than me, he should know it. ”

As a huge admirer of Messi it is hard to defend him. The only explanation can be he is spending to much time around the Barcelona players. It seems to be rubbing off on him. Or he thought all the Real Madrid payers seem to be doing it, why not try it out for himself.

Two men who would have definitely had a smile on their face would be Jose Mourinho and Christiano Ronaldo. Ronaldo must have been watching, thinking I would have got away with that.  At least Christiano Ronaldo can boast about one thing he is better than Messi at.
