The journos from French radio station RMC have stormed into The Transfer Tavern this morning with news that Marseille are pushing hard to land ex-Manchester United defender Gabriel Heinze at La Liga giants Real Madrid and Roma forward Jérémy Menez.
OM director general Antoine Veyrat held “concrete talks” with Los Blancos over Heinze in the Spanish capital last night, according to RMC sources.
The Ligue 1 giants are looking at ways to generate enough cash to cover the Argentinean’s annual wage packet of €4.2 million.
Marseille have also made a €8 million bid for young French playmaker Jérémy Menez, who plies his trade with the Giallorossi in Serie A.
The Italian outfit are refusing to do business for less than €12 million, the price they paid Monaco for Menez to arrive at the Stadio Olimpico last summer.
So which liqueur did our French friends put in their coffee this morning to come up with this story? Will Marseille pull off a deal for Menez and the Los Blancos Outcast? Should this rumour Fly or Die?
