Many Real Madrid fans have responded to the announcement that their El Clasico clash versus Barcelona has been postponed over fears of civil unrest.
The game was set to take place on October 26th, however, due to the protests that have been happening in Barcelona – which have led to nine Catalan separatist leaders being jailed – the game was called off.
Now, as the announcement reads, the clubs have agreed on a new date of December 18th for the fixture to take place.
There were previous suggestions to try and switch the game to Madrid, yet according to the BBC, both sides disagreed to play the game in at the Santiago Bernabeu.
La Liga postponed the match on the grounds of “exceptional circumstances beyond our control” as protests are set to continue in Barcelona on the day of the derby.
Protests have now continued in Barcelona into a fifth day, with many protestors in Catalonia clashing with police.
Some fans saw the possible benefits of postponing such a big game, though other Real Madrid supporters weren’t very happy about the news, angry at the board specifically for not arranging the game at a better time.

We have Bilbao and Valencia and CL near the 18th of December, why choose such a bad date? Incompetent management if you ask me
