The Brazilian was playing on the right-wing and was replaced by the Serbia international in the 82nd minute for what was a like-for-like switch.

Jovic has struggled since his arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window. The striker has failed to score in any of his nine appearances in all competitions (via Transfermarkt).

His move to the Spanish capital came about after a sensational season with Eintracht Frankfurt last campaign. He scored 27 goals in all competitions for the German club earning him a move in excess of £50m (via BBC). However, in 48 appearances, not a single one of them came on the flanks for the Bundesliga side.

Jovic has suffered from a lack of regular game time in the number nine role as the Real fans took to Twitter to display their dismay at his substitution last night.
