Sergio Ramos became the Spanish national team’s most capped player on Saturday night, with 168 appearances.

His career has spanned the nation’s glory years, with a World Cup and two European Championship victories to his name (per TransferMarkt).
The Madrid captain is now 33-years-old but he’s still performing at the very top level having started all of Madrid’s games in La Liga this season. He’s still consistent on the international front too, with his four appearances for Spain this year being rated at an average of 7.24/10 on WhoScored. He couldn’t keep a clean sheet on Saturday though, with Spain being held to a 1-1 draw by Norway.
Madrid were keen to share the news that he’d broken the appearance record to their 10.9 million followers, so they posted a congratulations message on Twitter accompanied by a photo of him kissing the Spanish badge. Fans replied to show appreciation for their captain.
You can see some of their reactions to the tweet below:
My captain, my leader, my soldier, my everything at Real Madrid. 🔑💯
