Real Madrid: Fans praise Sergio Ramos after breaking Spain’s all-time appearance record - La Liga

Sergio Ramos became the Spanish national teamโ€™s most capped player on Saturday night, with 168 appearances.

His career has spanned the nationโ€™s glory years, with a World Cup and two European Championship victories to his name (per TransferMarkt).

The Madrid captain is now 33-years-old but heโ€™s still performing at the very top level having started all of Madridโ€™s games in La Liga this season. Heโ€™s still consistent on the international front too, with his four appearances for Spain this year being rated at an average of 7.24/10 on WhoScored.ย He couldn’t keep a clean sheet on Saturday though, with Spain being held to a 1-1 draw by Norway.

Madrid were keen to share the news that he’d broken the appearance record to their 10.9 million followers, so they posted a congratulations message on Twitter accompanied by a photo of him kissing the Spanish badge. Fans replied to show appreciation for their captain.

You can see some of their reactions to the tweet below:

Is Sergio Ramos the greatest centre-back ever? if not, who is?
