Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Borussia Dortmund and England winger Jadon Sancho, according to reports from The Daily Mail.
Los Blancos reportedly wanted to sign the 19-year-old when he left Manchester City in 2017, and are now allegedly keen on making a fresh move for the England star after watching his drastic rise whilst playing for the Bundesliga giants.
Do Real Madrid need Jadon Sancho?
Sancho has become an international superstar since moving to Germany two years ago. The teenage forward has scored 18 goals and provided an astonishing 31 assists for Dortmund since joining the club (per Transfermarkt), and is now a regular feature in Gareth Southgate’s senior England squad, playing 10 times for the Three Lions; scoring twice (via England Stats).
He would certainly be a huge asset to Madrid, who could be on the lookout for a new winger should Gareth Bale depart the club in the new year. Bale looks set for a move to China next summer, and Sancho would be viewed as the perfect replacement for the Wales international due to his age and frightening potential.
This season, the former Watford trainee is averaging more dribbles per game (2.9 via WhoScored) than anyone other than Eden Hazard in the Spanish capital as well as 1.8 key passes per game. Given the difficulties in replacing the goals Cristiano Ronaldo scored for the club, moving for someone with that kind of attacking impetus could be welcome.
Sancho would not come cheaply, however, with Dortmund set to value their prized asset at £100m for any club’s wishing to capture his signature next summer.
It is no surprise to see Sancho gaining such attention from some of Europe’s biggest clubs, with Manchester United also thought to be heavily interested in signing him in 2020.
If Real Madrid can lure him to the club, it’d be quite the coup.
