Real Madrid are understood to be feeling confident that some of their squad members will look to move on in January, according to a report by Marca.
It is believed a number of men that have been on the fringes of Zinedine Zidane’s first-team could reconsider their futures at the Santiago Bernabeu and decide to look for pastures new in the winter transfer window.
Los Blancos currently have a 24-man squad list, however, with a maximum of only 18 being allowed on a matchday, that means six men will automatically be excluded from contention almost immediately.
Interestingly, the report fails to mention any names that could look to play their football away from the Bernabeu this winter, although it might be easier than first thought to suggest who could look to leave the club in some form.
According to data collected by Transfermarkt, the likes of Mariano Diaz and Brahim Diaz are both yet to have been included in a first-team squad, which could throw their futures into doubt.
Indeed, both attackers had been linked with moves away from Madrid at some point throughout the summer – the former with a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur and is now expected to be sold in January (per Calciomercato), whilst the ex-Manchester City winger is understood to have rejected all loan moves that were offered to him.
Luka Modric is another individual that may look to move on as there are doubts about his future at the Santiago Bernabeu and he has since been linked with a return to Spurs (in a potential swap deal for Christian Eriksen), whilst Gareth Bale is ‘angry’ with the situation in Spain and wants to leave, as per Guillem Balague.
Nacho has entered the final 12 months of his contract (Transfermarkt) despite having signed a new one-year extension in the spring, leaving his club with a decision to make, whilst others may look to seek a new challenge if they are unable to get the opportunities they want whilst in Madrid.
Whilst the report does not mention any names as to who could be looking at packing their bags, it is not too difficult to infer just who could be looked at as possible departures.
If there is a confidence amongst those at the club that a number of players could look to move on in January, then it could be a rather busy winter in the Spanish capital for Zinedine Zidane and Real Madrid.
Is Gareth Bale being treated harshly?
