Real Madrid have made Brazilian superstar Neymar their main transfer target before this summer’s European window shuts on 2 September, according to The Sun.
The French champions are happy for the forward to leave amid concerns about his commitment to the club (as reported by ESPN).
And with 20-year-old Kylian Mbappe now becoming the main man at the Parc des Princes ahead of Neymar, something which ESPN‘s Julien Laurens firmly believes has happened, there is no real need to have the Brazilian on board if he is unhappy at the club.
It’s being reported that Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane wants to bring Neymar back to Spain as he continues to completely rebuild his squad ahead of the new La Liga campaign.
Los Blancos are reportedly prepared to offer PSG Isco, Marcelo and Raphael Varane plus £100m for the former Barcelona man, who would himself be offered a whopping £700,000-a-week contract at the Bernabeu.
If this move does come to fruition, it would signal the end for Paul Pogba’s potential move to Madrid. The France international has made his wishes of moving to Spain clear, though after already spending over £250m on new arrivals this summer and potentially another £100m on acquiring Neymar’s signature, a move for the Manchester United midfielder would prove a bridge too far.
Despite Madrid’s interest, Barcelona still remain favourites to re-sign their former player.
Having already spent heavily on Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic this summer, Madrid should focus on bolstering their midfield options instead of signing another forward.
Luka Modric is 33-years-old and Toni Kroos turns 30 next year. Based on that, Real Madrid would surely be better off investing in a midfielder like Pogba.
