This Kylian Mbappe transfer saga is getting out of hand

Everyone at the Transfer Tavern thinks they’ve had too much to drink but alas what they’re seeing really is happening.

This summer’s transfer window really is proof at how out of hand some transfer fees are getting.

With Neymar looking set to join PSG for around £200 million and Kylian Mbappe constantly getting linked to clubs for around the same price, 2017 is set to be an expensive year.

Focusing more on the latter though, reports from the Metro have revealed Monaco have upped their asking price for their teenage star to £178 million.

Unsurprisingly, the Transfer Tavern’s landlord thinks that is ridiculous.

Whilst Mbappe had an outstanding breakthrough season last time out for Monaco which saw him net 15 goals and managed eight assists in just 29 league games, he still isn’t proven.

He is still only 18 years old and spending nearly £200 million on him would not only be a risk but just plain stupid.

Barcelona will be favourites to sign the teenager if Neymar leaves the club meaning one of the worlds best will be replaced by an 18-year-old with one good season under his belt.

It doesn’t make any sense.

Remember when Anthony Martial signed for Manchester United for £36 million making him the most expensive teenager in footballing history?

That was only two years ago.

It is at times like this where our landlord has to agree that there is just too much money in football.

Do you think Mbappe or anyone for that matter is worth nearly £200 million? Let us know down below.
