Week In Pictures – Forgetting is simply not an option for Pique

pique.jpgThere are a few sore heads here in the tavern this morning after the shock result in the Champions League last night. Not many of us thought that AC Milan would be able to keep Barcelona quiet and score two goals to boot.

Once again the Catalan giants have learnt that possession is not the be all and end all. Chelsea ousted them from the competition last season with very little of the ball, albeit at a much later and more respectful stage. Last night the Italians managed to score two and looked fairly comfortable on the ball with just 27 per cent of possession during the game, keeping Barca’s star players quiet with fantastic rearguard action and scintilating counter attacking play.

With Mario Balotelli and Robinho on the sidelines watching the game – and dancing to it, the Italian giants had to rely on flair pair Kevin-Prince Boateng and Stephan El Shaarawy who dovetailed to brilliant effect. Why are we talking about this you may ask? Well after a match your team has lost, most footballers want to go home and forget about it. Maybe wearing their oversized headphones and picking up a Nando’s (or a McDonald’s in the recent case of Fabio Borini!) on the way. If they are really upset by the result there will be the obligatory tweet and maybe even a new tattoo if we are really lucky.

One thing they do not want to do is think about the team they have just lost to – something that is not really an option for Gerard Pique who after losing to Milan had to go home to his newborn son – Milan! Well given that he managed to bag the beautiful Shakira we have very little sympathy for Pique after the following picture that has been doing the rounds on Twitter this afternoon!
