The Oscars has been and gone once more, and in and amongst those making acceptance speeches was Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets.
When asked the question, ‘which footballer would be worthy of an Oscar?’ a fair few spring to mind. But it is hard to argue with the eventual winner, Barcelona midfield ‘destroyer’ Sergio Busquets who pipped the likes of Luis Suarez and Gareth Bale to the post.
Regular watchers of Spanish football will know all about Busquets and his acting abilities.
Not a game goes past without a dramatic fall, dive or feigned injury from the Spaniard, which more often than not is so convincing it goes unpunished.
Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Inter Milan have all got to witness first hand some breathtaking performances from Barca’s number 16.
Inter Milan in particular will never forget the emotional and moving performance he gave in the 2010 Champions League semi-final which was so powerful, it convinced the referee to send off Inter’s Thiago Motta.
So many congratulations to Sergio Busquets. After years of play acting, diving and petulance, you fully deserve your Oscar. It really is almost impossible to think of a more worthwhile winner.
Just hope you don’t get seriously injured one day….
