It seems all about Barcelona here at the Football Transfer Tavern today and there is positive news for the Catalan giants according to Mundo Deportivo.
The Spanish publication claim that one of the golden three has put pen to paper on a new deal at the club. It has long been suggested that Xavi Hernandez was about to sign a new contract at the club and that has now come to pass.
The midfielder is undoubtedly one of the best in the world and has been at the club his entire career. Along with Andres Iniesta, the two are a formidable duo for both club and country and are on most people’s metaphorical football wish list. Xavi’s new deal will take the 33-year-old through until 2016 and is set to be joined by both Carles Puyol and Lionel Messi.
Puyol has also put pen to paper on a new deal that will see the club skipper tied to the club until 2016 and Lionel Messi’s renewal is believed to be imminent. The four time Ballon d’Or winner is about to agree a deal until 2018 and is looking to end his career with the club where he made his name.
