There may never be a worse time for Leeds United than now to play in a Yorkshire derby. The Whites will meet Sheffield Wednesday in the Championship’s late kickoff on Saturday as they look to continue their quest for automatic promotion.
Elland Road may have an extremely tense and anxious atmosphere come 17:30, depending on results earlier in the afternoon, however, Marcelo Bielsa may have some excellent news heading into the match that could help them obtain all three points.
What’s the News?
According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Bielsa has no new fresh injury concerns to deal with as they prepare for their Yorkshire derby.
Pablo Hernandez managed to get through the game against Preston North End in midweek without any complications after he had to take a late fitness test prior to that game.
Patrick Bamford looks to be in fine form for the Whites and will be looking to build on the brace he scored last time out.
Having the same squad available for the Yorkshire derby against Sheffield Wednesday at this stage of the season will be excellent news for Leeds and Bielsa.
The Whites have blown hot and cold recently, whilst their opponents on Saturday have been in the form of their lives under Steve Bruce.
However, with just a few games to go left in the season, having all his players available will be crucial for the Argentine and will help them to build some confidence and momentum for the final run-in.
Bamford appears to be finding his feet in front of goal after an injury-hit season and may have come into some excellent form at just the right time. He has been filling in adequately for Kemar Roofe recently, and if both men are to be firing, then an automatic promotion berth must seriously be obtainable.
Hernandez is another individual that has been crucial to how Leeds have performed this season as he consistently produces a number of solid displays, with the veteran Spaniard managing to provide a constant stream of goals and assists for his team-mates.
