Leeds United will have the opportunity to cement their place within the automatic promotion spots on Good Friday when they host Wigan Athletic at Elland Road. A win would keep them firmly in the driving seat with just three games to go, and, should results go their way, they could be six points clear of Sheffield United in third with just three games to go.
And, it appears that Marcelo Bielsa may have some great news ahead of the encounter with the Latics in regards to personnel.
What’s the News?
According to a match preview by Sky Sports, Leeds have no new injury concerns to deal with prior to the game.
Liam Cooper is still struggling to overcome the muscle injury he picked up prior to the win against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend and could miss out once again.
Although having no new injury concerns is always good news, the fact that Leeds’ have not had any to deal with in the run-in so far will have been great news for the club and Bielsa.
The Argentine will be able to keep the momentum his side have been picking up in recent weeks and being able to name the same side that recorded the victory against their Yorkshire rivals last time out will be a boost to the Whites’ chances of picking up the three points on Friday.
The Latics, despite their position in the Championship, could still be a dangerous threat at Elland Road as they have shown they are more than up for the fight following their draw with Norwich City last weekend whilst playing a team that are battling to save their status in the second tier is not always the type of opponent a club will want to play.
Patrick Bamford could be key for Leeds as he has started to find some form recently, as has Pablo Hernandez, and Bielsa could look to the pair as their main driving force to try and get the job done.
